Benefits of Credit Union Membership

"Owned and run for the benefit of members"

We are Different - We are a co-operative financial services provider for GMB members and their families only. We are owned and run by our members. We provide an alternative to the high profit earning banks and buildings societies on one hand and the loan sharks on the other.

We are Flexible - Members can choose how much they want to save (minimum saving is £2.50 per week or £10 per month). Regular payments to the credit union can be made by direct debit, standing order or payroll deduction. Savings are accessible on demand with payments direct to your bank or by cheque. We are willing to lend smaller amounts at a competitive interest rate.

We are Accessible - Members have a wide variety of channels through which to access their Credit Union services – internet, e-mail, telephone, post or they can visit the TCU Members Service Office. We seek to communicate effectively with our members at all times and to be receptive to their financial requirements

We are Fair - We hold a common bond as GMB union members’ and strive to understand our members needs and empower them through co-operative ownership and a voice at the AGM. All profits are returned as a dividend and there are no hidden fees or charges for managing your savings and loan accounts.

We have a range of Member Services - We currently provide instant access savings, loans services, prepaid Mastercard, online banking. Life cover is provided on savings and loans. Members have access to a monthly prize draw

We are Secure - TCU was established by the GMB in 1999 and is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). Our annual accounts are independently audited and in the unlikely event of failure members savings are protected up to £50,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

We are Inclusive - TCU seeks to serve all GMB members and their families by providing an alternative financial service which is sympathetic to individual members needs, rewards loyalty and is approachable and friendly
